Samtskhe-Javakheti State University (SJSU) participated in the coordination event – Management Face-to-Face Meeting (T1.3.4) – held within the framework of the Erasmus+ PRODIGE project.
The event took place on July 2, 2026, at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, aimed at promoting dialogue among partners. SJSU was represented at the meeting by Tea Tatenashvili, the Project Coordinator and Chief Specialist of the Quality Assurance Office.
The workshop was led by experts from the project’s coordinating organization, EFMD:
Dr. Christophe TERRASSE – Project Director, T5.2 Module Mentor and Trainer, Director of the International Projects Department. He has many years of experience mentoring Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in implementing programmatic and institutional Quality Assurance (QA) processes, as well as conducting trainings on the modernization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in higher education.
Jean-Baptiste MAILLARD – Project Manager, Project Management Team (PMT) Member and Expert, Senior Manager of the International Projects Department. Former coordinator of Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) projects. He has participated in Peer-Review visits to HEIs in the Caucasus region.
During the meeting, current issues were discussed and the action steps for the next 6 months were planned according to the work packages:
Updating the Regulatory Framework (WP5): Maia Shukhoshvili, Head of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, spoke about the first draft of the regulatory package for digital education deployment, prepared under Work Package 5 (WP5). The speaker noted that the document includes an analysis of the existing legislation on digital education and current state authorization standards in Georgia, an overview of stakeholder needs, and the identification of optimal pathways for further development in this direction.
Quality Assurance of Digital Education (WP7): Lasha Zivzivadze, Head of the Planning, Research and International Relations Department of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, presented a report on package WP7 (“Quality Assurance of Digital Education”) and its specific component – Activity T1.7 (“Development of the National Quality Assurance System for Digital Education”). He emphasized that the Center is actively managing discussions and consultations with HEIs and the Ministry. The cooperation aims to review the current QA system, strengthen it by taking into account the specifics of Digital Education (DE), discuss the draft document of ESG 2027 (European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education), and align the national framework with it.
At the end of the event, the participants also discussed current ongoing issues and summarized the activities planned for the next 6 months.
