From May 25 to May 29, the Algebra University (Zagreb, Croatia) hosted the Georgian delegation within the framework of the Erasmus+ international structural project, “Promoting High-Quality Digital Education in Georgia (PRODIGE).” The working meetings were attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, and partner higher education institutions.
Samtskhe-Javakheti State University was represented in the study tour by: Tea Tatenashvili – Project Coordinator and Chief Specialist at the Quality Assurance Office, Irakli Khachidze – Project Researcher and Doctor of Informatics.
The primary focus of the visit was centered on digital transformation in higher education. The agenda covered the following key areas:
- Digital communication ecosystems, branding, and accessibility.
- EU strategic frameworks (Digital Education Action Plan) and EU projects (Artificial Intelligence, databases, sustainability).
- Online and hybrid learning models, along with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Student information systems (InfoEduka) and advanced analytics (ALBON platform).
- Micro-credentials, European standards, and Blended Intensive Programs (BIPs).
- National educational policy, quality assurance, and digital/computing infrastructure in Croatia.
As part of the study tour, high-level official meetings were held at Croatia’s leading institutions:
- MZOM – Ministry of Science and Education of Croatia.
- AZVO – Agency for Science and Higher Education.
- CARNET – Croatian Academic and Research Network.
- SRCE – University Computing Centre.
The fundamental objective of the PRODIGE project is the digital transformation of higher education in Georgia. This goal is being pursued through a comprehensive approach that includes supporting the improvement of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks on one hand, and developing the institutional capacities of local higher education institutions on the other.
This large-scale initiative is a collaborative effort synergistically integrating the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, and ten local universities. The sustainability and alignment of the international consortium with European standards are ensured by partner organizations from Belgium, Estonia, Spain, and Croatia, including the ..the Estonian Quality Agency for Higher Education and International Accreditation and European university associations/networks.
