On May 26-30 the Senior Specialist of Quality Assurance Department of Samtskhe-Javakheti State University and a project coordinator, Tea Tatenashvili and a visiting teacher of English language philology bachelor program, Tamar Kapanadze paid an official visit to Madrid, Spain, to the National University of Distance Education (UNED) within the framework of Promoting High-quality Digital Education in Georgia (PRODIGE) implemented under the Erasmus + Institutional Development Program. They participated in the working meetings held within the PRODIGE project. The institutional delegation of Georgia participated in the study tour consisted of the representatives of the National Center of Quality Enhancement of Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the representatives of ten Georgian Universities. The meeting was an important step forward for international cooperation and digital transformation of the higher education in Georgia.

The key goal of the meetings was introduction European practice in the field of higher digital education and providing consultations about prospective of the sector development in Georgia.
The visit is an important initiative for defining strategy corresponding to the European standards and sharing professional experience.
During five intensive days, Georgian delegation was introduced with the university educational model, advanced technological infrastructure, methodology of innovative teaching, quality assurance systems, multi-facet educational proposals and student support services.
Face-to-face meetings, technical visits and the spaces for dialogue supported to knowledge and best practice sharing required for institutional development of the system at Georgian HEIs, for development of online higher education where distance study is not acknowledged officially.
The goal of three-year PRODIGE project is to modernize Georgian education system and bring it in line with 21st century global trends. To this end, it focuses on creating a regulatory framework for digital education, training of the university staff and development of 50 modules for distance study.
