Project Abstract:
The project Development of Veterinary Faculties at Georgian HEIs to Create a New Pool of Young Veterinary Professionals in Georgia
(VETPRO), funded by the European Commission, is being implemented under the coordination of the European University. The aim of the project is to promote the development of the veterinary field in Georgia.
The project objectives are:
- Development of veterinary faculties and improvement of the quality of education in accordance with EU standards;
- Veterinary Supporting lifelong learning in the field by offering open access online courses;
- Supporting the socio-economic sector by establishing cooperation between the university community and the wider society.
To achieve the above objectives, the VETPRO project envisages the following activities:
- Deepening cooperation between universities, laboratories and clinics of Georgia and the EU countries; • Retraining of academic and visiting staff in accordance with EU requirements;
- Establishing partnerships between higher education institutions, private and public sectors, etc.
European Union Grant: 196 966 EU, Samtske-Javakheti State University is one partner and the amount of grant is 37 722 Euro.
VETPRO is an international project coordinated by European University and involves cooperation between both local and international universities.
The consortium consists of five universities from three countries:

Within the framework of the ERASMUS+ institutional development project VETPRO, in which Samtskhe-Javakheti State University is involved, the following free online courses have been developed:
Animal Welfare
National System for Animal Identification, Registration, and Traceability (NAITS)
Some Endemic Infectious Diseases of Animals in Georgia
Veterinary Legislation in Georgia
These online courses are intended for beginner farmers, veterinary students, and anyone interested in the field of veterinary science.
